I am not really into writing about some stuff for the reason that for me, I find it boring. That is why before, when I was thinking of a sideline job, blogging was not in my options (you can actually get paid for making a blog for a company). This is probably because I have no experience in writing even back when I was a kid. Just so you know, I have the worst handwriting during my class. Actually, even now, my handwriting still sucks. Good thing computers are here to make our life easier. I can just type what I want and before I know it, I’m done making an article. So I said before I’m not into writing, right? Simple, I can give you three reasons. First is, I’m learning new things when I do an article to a certain topic such as gadgets, careers, and anything under the sun. Second, improving my new skill,. like I said, I have no experience doing this sort of thing but I’m always open for a new challenge and Lastly, a source of income. Since I am looking to get extra cash, this would be an opportunity to practice my new found skill and at the same time, get paid. So how do you improve your writing skill?

The first time I wrote an article, it was kind of easy for me since the topic is something that I know. But that is not always the case. There are times when the topic that is being assigned is something that is new to me or something that is way out of my knowledge. If that is the case, researching will be the solution. You can get ideas from the news, the internet, and books. You can also do an interview with people who can help you out with your article. Just remember one thing when you are including something in your article from your reference. Always include that person or that particular site or book where you got that idea by putting an open and closed quote in that part. That doesn’t mean the content of your article is not ordinary. It just means you’re sharing the resources that you found to your readers. Some writers that have their article in the newspapers do this as well.

Another thing that you need to consider in writing an article is being professional on its content. When you write an article, think of it as if you’re writing a semi-formal letter and as much as possible, use words that readers would understand. Avoid using slang language (such as “ayt”, “ok”, or “wachathink?”) You don’t need to be too serious about your article, unless you want your readers to get bored. Imagine as if you’re just making a conversation to your friends. You talk about one topic and you share opinions. That’s the same thing in article writing, only you’re the only one sharing your opinion to the readers.

If you want to learn writing an article and improve it, you can start by creating your own blog and just talk about anything. As you move on, try to pick a topic that interest you and make an article about it. It could be about your hobby or about your personal life if you’re comfortable sharing it. Once you find it easy doing this, then you can move on about other topics that will challenge your new skill.
